KUCHING: The Manufacturers in Sarawak should strive to obtain the Sirim Eco-Label product certification licences.
It is stated that such a mark signifies that a product is verified as being environmentalfriendly across all aspects – from the raw materials used, up to the manufacturing workflow and the practices involved in production.
In this regard, Weida Group executive chairman Dato Lee Choon Chin encouraged more manufacturers to go towards getting this eco- label licence, which would indicate that their production process was free from pollution or emissions.
“It would be a good joint effort by everybody, not just one sector or one player.
“On an overall basis, it would be a contribution to the totality of the environment.
“As such, it is so important to get this eco-label (licensing), certified by Sirim,” he said after receiving the certification from Sirim regional director Kasvenda Kassim yesterday during a handing-over ceremony that took place at Weida’s booth in the Borneo International Water and Wastewater Exhibition and Conference (BIWWEC) here.
Weida obtained the Sirim Eco 054: 2016 Plastics Piping System certification for its Floline 3W
High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) profiled pipes.
The ceremony yesterday was witnessed by Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental
Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
At the same event, Weida also unveiled its new large diameter ‘Floline Flexiss’ pipes – an extension to its existing FLoline 3-W pipes, with some additional features.
